B. Design Interior Design

The Bachelor of Design programme is a four year full time degree programme. A strong foundation of interdisciplinary skills are imparted to the students with an emphasis on the latest materials available, construction techniques, accessory design, and a variety of workshops like photography, textile design, furniture manufacturing, metal works, etc. The curriculum includes concerns like Universal Design, Green Building Design, Environmental Control, Furniture Design & Ergonomics and an understanding of human psychology in Interior spaces.

The course work a semester of full-time internship in an Interior Designer’s office and a Project.

Higher Studies

The degree of B Design gives the students an opportunity for higher studies at the IIT for an M Design programme. Many universities in the UK, US, Australia, Italy etc. are offering master’s programme for specialization in the field of design like furniture design, lighting design, acoustic design, textile design etc. where our students got admitted and passed out with flying colours.

Eligibility:

Intermediate i.e. 10+2 in any branch.

Selection Procedure:

The students have to qualify for the exam conducted by JNAFAU.

Bachelors of Fine Arts – Painting

The Department of Painting & Visual Communication

(i) Offers a four year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Painting & Visual Communication.

The annual intake is 20. The academic programme consists of four years with a one-year common foundation course in the basics of art, the remaining six semesters are devoted to professional training. The programme concentrates on the development of basic skills in drawing, color design, and adequate knowledge of the history of arts and Aesthetics. The course is designed to prepare students through intense theoretical input and practical training to develop their intuitive abilities. The students acquire the understanding of creative use of drawing, oil color, watercolor, tempera and other media of Painting. They learn the elements of figurative and non-figurative composition. They develop competence in landscape painting, life study, portraiture and mural design in traditional and nontraditional media. The students also get acquainted with various technical processes of printmaking such as Etching, lithography and wood-cut. At the end of 4th year, students submit a single concept dissertation. The students gain sufficient expertise to apply their skills in related fields of art and craft, such as textile design, interior decoration, creative crafts, book illustration and other areas of design application.

Bachelors of Fine Arts  – Sculpture

The Department of Painting & Visual Communication

(ii) Also offers a 2 years Master of Fine Arts (Painting & Visual Communication) Programme consisting of 4 Semesters.

Bachelors of Fine Arts  – Applied Art

The Department of Applied Art & Visual Communication:

(i) Offers a four-year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Applied Art & Visual communication.

The programme is open to all those who have passed (10+2). The annual intake is 35. The academic programme consists of four years with a one year common foundation course in the basics of art, the remaining 6 semesters are devoted to professional training. The programme is a combination of Theory, Practical, Practical Training and Project works. The course structure involves fundamentals of advertising and design inputs such as Typography, Illustration, Media Design, Media Management and Photography. The students are sent for a practical media experience in studios & advertising agencies in the 4/2 semester. At the end of the fourth year, final semester; the students submit comprehensive project work and dissertation to complete the degree requirement.

The programme is designed to develop skills evaluated to Advertising Design, Media Design, Graphic Design, Web Design and Publishing Design etc. The Department organizes Annual Show/Exhibition where the Student works are displayed.

(iii) Also offers a 3 years Master of Fine Arts (PTPG) (Applied Art & Visual Communication) Programme consisting of 6 Semesters.

Bachelors of Fine Arts  – Photography

(i) Offers a 4 year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Photography & Visual communication.

The academic programme consists of 8 semesters. The annual intake is 45 (30 as regular and 15 as SSS). The degree programme in Photography & Visual Communication offers courses in inter-related studies such as Photography as Fine Art, Professional Photography, Photo Journalism, Audio Visual Communication, Digital Photography, Computer Graphics & Multimedia and Professional Videography. The programme seeks to develop the technical and aesthetic competence of the students by exposing them to the various aspects of the theory, history and practice of Photography through lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibitions. The department has well-equipped infrastructure, Digital Computer Labs & Professional video labs etc., and adequately equipped studio. However, proposals for the expansion of the department and purchase of latest equipment have been submitted to the University for Consideration.

(ii) Offers a 2 years Master of Fine Arts (Photography & Visual Communication) Degree with the annual intake is 25 pupils.

Bachelors of Fine Arts – Animation

The Department of Animation & Visual Communication Offers a 4 year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Animation & Visual communication. The programme is open to all those who have passed (10+2) / Intermediate or its equivalent examination. The annual intake is 60. The programme is designed to develop Aesthetics and inborn creative skills to produce a Project Animation Industry, Movies, Electronic Media, Feature Films etc.

BFA Animation

The objective of this programme is to enable students to explore animation as a creative medium and find solutions in its various divisions including VFX and filmmaking. Students are initially introduced to basic drawing & design skills, which are essential foundation requirements. It enables a broader understanding of the context of design. They are then taken to core domain areas pertaining to animation design, as well as soft skills. In the later semesters, students are exposed to workshops and live project mode of learning where they experiment with various mediums (e.g. 2D, 3D, VFX, Stop motion animation). Learning is supplemented by field visits, case studies and other interactive sessions which are a value addition. Students graduating from this programme find rewarding careers as animators, character designers, storyboard artists, VFX artist as well as creative directors, production managers, consultants and designers in many organizations such as TCS, Cognizant, Green Gold Animation, xentrix studios, MPC, Technicolor, Maukta VFX, Fire Flies creative studio, DQ to name only a few. They also have the option to work as freelancers in various animation production houses in India and abroad, or can even become entrepreneurs. The Department organizes Annual Shows, Seminars and Workshops National level and International level where the students are going to participate to display their Creativity and Aesthetics.
